Biggest Annual St. Augustine Events You Won’t Want to Miss

With the epic Nights of Lights celebration and the slew of famous historic sites, St. Augustine as a wide array of exciting things to see and do all year round. We take a look at some of our finest local events when you stay at our most exceptional St. Augustine beach condos.

The Players Championship

The Players Championship is a renowned Ponte Vedra golfing tournament and is a major stopping point for the PGA Golf Tour. It is also a pivotal game for players pursuing that $10 million prize.

The Players Championship takes place at TPC Sawgrass in March. It is slated to begin March 10th and end March 15th. Tee-offs will begin 6:30 a.m. and continue to 7:30 a.m. Parking passes must be acquired and are only available online and in advance of the event. 

Sing Out Loud Festival

Book any one of our September weekend nights in your favorite St. Augustine resorts and enjoy the fun and festivities of Sing Out Loud. With only a few years behind it, Sing Out Loud has grown from a popular local novelty to a substantial North Florida attraction. 

Sing Out Loud consists of well over 150 artists across 20 or more music venues in St. Augustine. From the big bustling amphitheater of the AMP to the cozy local taverns and pubs, artists bring out their best for 30 min to 90 min sets across the ancient city. Last year saw popular musicians like Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins alongside St. Paul and the Broken Bones. It also includes a slew of localized acts from genres including hip-hop, folk, and even metal.

Sing Out Loud takes place every weekend in September.

St. Augustine’s Nights of Lights

Nights of Lights is almost, without question, the most visually striking as well as a popular event for the city every year. It is a true showcase of St. Augustine’s magical beauty. The downtown historic district is coated, top to bottom, in white lights. The lights bounce off the nearby river, giving the city you a grand glow you have to see to believe. 

Throughout the duration of Nights of Lights, guests will traverse the streets, listen to music in the courtyard, visit top historic attractions, and take trolley or horseback rides through the small alleys and street ways. It is a delightful way to experience the city.

The famous Nights of Lights celebration start the Saturday before Thanksgiving and continue to the end of January. 

Founding Day

Founding Day is drenched in historical significance. This often overlooked but the significant holiday is growing in popularity. St. Augustine was founded in September 1565, and it marks a significant occasion of American history as the oldest city in the country.

Most of the action around Founding Day takes place at the Castillo de San Marcos, the famous fort on the water. See recreated salutes and even a cannon firing. There is also a re-enactment of the landing of Pedro Menendez and his crew. 

Founding Day is in September, landing on the closest Saturday to September 8th

Celtic Music and Heritage Festival

Francis Field hosts the Celtic Music and Heritage Festival. It is one of the most sincere and accurate festivals on Celtic music and heritage, bringing guests an honest understanding of the culture. Real Celtic enthusiasts can sink deep into lectures, workshops, and authentic Celtic food.

The festival includes many activities for kids, like face painting and temporary tattoos, as well as music from accomplished local veterans. Music is contemporary as well as classic, including bagpipes, guitars, drums, and more. You can even experience some classic Highland games as well as the wonderful St. Patrick Parade. It is famous for being the first in the world.

The event is March 14th and March 15th. Francis Field is located at 25 W Castillo Dr.

Fall Arts and Crafts Festival

The Fall Arts and Crafts Festival is a fun romp through the creativity of the city. There are expected to be nearly 135 different artists and vendors with sculptures, mixed media, photography, textiles, and a lot more.

The event is at Francis Field. It is currently slated to begin in late November, just past Thanksgiving.
