Top 10 Bars in St. Augustine

Summer in St. Augustine is about moon-lit beaches, sultry weather, and enjoying ice-cold beverages at your favorite watering hole, but if you don’t know where to go to get your drink on, it kind of defeats the purpose.

Fortunately for you, our great staff at The Ocean Gallery has done their research (purely for your benefit, of course!) and has created a list of the top 5 bars in St. Augustine. To be fair, however, more research might need to be done, so keep checking back here; we may find new bars at a later point that are worth an added mention!

1. Ice Plant

Cooling off on a hot summer’s night is easy when you are enjoying beverages at this spot that used to be the site of ice plant back in the 1920s. We’ve been back a few times and have yet to have a bad drink, but our favorite is the Wicked Games—a delicious beverage consisting of tequila, Strega, ancho, pineapple, strawberry falernum, lemon, and bitters; you HAVE to try it! Location: 110 Riberia Street.

2. Scarlett O’Hara’s

You’re in the South, so what better place to celebrate summer than on the famous porch in a pub named after one of our favorite heroines! The food is southern style comfort food featuring local favorites and homemade cornbread and the drinks? Refreshing and delicious, a taste of our Fountain of Youth containing rum, pineapple, local honey, and peach bitters will smooth those frown lines around your mouth! Location: 70 Hypolita Street.

3. Boat Drinks

Boat Drinks is a tropical-nautical-themed bar with frozen cocktails, a selection of rum, and plenty of oysters and seafood to snack on while you’re drinking! Located in a historic building on historic St. George Street you are sure to enjoy your time here! Check it out at 56 Saint George Street in St. Augustine.

4. End Zone Sports Bar

Sports bars can be found in most cities all over the US, but this one has that something extra that makes it special. Offering free Pool Tuesdays, Ladies Nights, and even Service Industry Nights, the owners of the End Zone appreciate their clientele—and it shows! Grab a beer and enjoy the live entertainment you will find here on Wednesday and Friday nights and become part of the End Zone family forevermore! Location: 2446 S US 1 Highway.

5. Dog Rose Brewing Co.

If craft beers are your thing, a visit to this pub should most definitely be on your list to visit while on your St. Augustine vacation! Opened in 2017, this brewery has every type of beer you could need to enjoy your time there. Check out the taproom or the handcrafted maple bar, and maybe get into a game of shuffleboard, darts, or cricket. Located at 77 Bridge St. in St. Augustine.

6. Stogie’s Jazz Club and Listening Room

A small and intimate bar, Stogie’s still has a hint of that club vibe. The dim lighting and the cigar smoke that gently drifts through the air is paired perfectly with the soothing sound of jazz music setting the mood for a classy evening out. They have micro brews and a full port wine selection that can be paired with your favorite cigar from the humidor. You can stop in for a guy’s night out or you can bring a date because Stogie’s isn’t your typical cigar bar, the girls can play here to.  Other St. Augustine night clubs wish they were this smooth.

7. The Cellar Upstairs Wine and Jazz Bar

Gather your friends and get ready for a night of live eclectic jazz and blues music. The Cellar Upstairs, which is literally upstairs from the San Sebastian Winery, is a St Augustine Night Life hotspot that features wine by the glass or bottle, a famous sangria, and one of the best beer selections in St. Augustine. There is covered and open-air seating on the patio with amazing views surrounding the marshlands. If you are craving a little something to eat, you can choose from a simple but delicious menu selection of meat and cheese platters to go with your wine.

8. Cobalt Lounge

Located inside the Casa Monica Hotel, this place exudes class. It is decorated in a classic Moorish style with the bar dressed in a hint of neon blue lighting. Cobalt Lounge is well-known for their classic martini-bar and candlelit tables that can set the mood for a night of elegance. On the weekends you can find live jazz music performed by the most talented local musicians. During the week, there are daily drink specials such as $8 Mojitos on Mondays and $8 specialty martini cocktails on Thursdays.

9. Tini Martini Bar

If you are looking for somewhere to take your special someone then look no further because the Tini Martini Bar is the PERFECT spot. Located in the charming Casablanca Inn, this bar lives up to the name because it definitely is tiny. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for by having the most beautiful waterfront patio view. Besides the classic gin or vodka martini, the bar menu includes specialties such as A Kiss on the Lips, made with strawberry infused vodka and mixed with peach schnapps and cranberry juice, or the Asian Pear. You will also be able to catch live jazz music throughout the week.

10. The Bar with No Name

Ever heard of a bar with no name? Come to St. Augustine and you will literally hear about a little known hot spot called “A Bar with No Name.” Situated across from the famous Castillo De San Marcos, you can experience amazing views of the inlet and Castillo from the patio. This cleverly named bar isn’t as fancy as, say, Stogie’s or Cobalt Lounge, but it is awesome in its own down-home right. There is plenty of beer on tap and a myriad of mixed drinks. You can bet your “you know what” that you will find some of the best live music on the weekends along with great drink specials. If it’s just some down-home fun you are looking for, The Bar with No Name is the perfect spot!
