Where To Find The Tastiest Pizza In St. Augustine

Florida knows how to do pizza. Few coastal towns in the state can do it better than St. Augustine. From the tiny little nooks on the busiest streets to some big and fun restaurants just outside of the historic town center, St. Augustine is filled with places for pizza.

So where’s the tastiest pizza? Below are four to get you going.

1. Pizzalley’s and the Chianti Room

A longstanding favorite amongst locals and tourists alike, Pizzalley’s is a premier place to pick up pizza if you find yourself in downtown St. Augustine.

Located on St. George Street, in the heart of St. Augustine’s historic district, Pizzalley’s offers brick oven pizza, made from scratch. Their list of toppings is extensive, and their portions are large.

You can choose gourmet pizza by the slice or order a custom pie for the whole family. Like their name implies, Pizzalley’s is located in a narrow, alley-like building off of historic St. George Street. Though the store front is small, it is easy to find.

Follow your nose toward towards the savory smell of pizza and look for a smiling sampler offering tastes of their brick oven pizza. This popular pizzeria can easily get crowded; if you are looking for a sit-down dining experience, you can walk through the back of Pizzalley’s into their Chianti Room, a full service Italian restaurant that serves their gourmet pies.

Pizzalley’s is at 117 St. George St, St. Augustine, FL 32084.

2. Carmelo’s

It may surprise you that one of the best spots for Pizza in St. Augustine is housed inside a gas station, but try a bit of Carmelo’s pizza and you will be hooked!

Carmelo’s serves up New York style pizza with Old World sensibilities. If you are visiting Flagler College, Whetstone’s Chocolate Factory, or the Lightner Museum, Carmelo’s is a convenient and tasty spot for lunch.

In addition to brick oven pizza, Carmelo’s also serves hearty salads, calzones, traditional pasta dishes like baked ziti, and paninis and sandwiches featuring Boars Head Meats. Though Carmelo’s is only blocks away from famous attractions in downtown St. Augustine, this Pizzeria is tucked away from the busy bustle of tourists.

Visits Carmelo’s at 146 King Street St. Augustine, FL 32084 or call (904) 829-2337

3. Pizza Time

In recent years, Pizza Time earned national acclaim from TripAdvisor by ranking as the second best pizza place in United States. Pizza Time is located in the heart of St. George Street, a busy pedestrian shopping destination in the Oldest City.

This pizzeria has a cult following with locals and remains a favorite spot with tourists, as well. Pizza Time is almost always busy, and it is not uncommon to see a line down the block of hungry faces looking for a slice of thin crust, New York Style pizza.

Though they offer cannoli and calzones, Pizza Time is famous for their pies. Here, they sell pizza only by the slice. Be sure to carry cash if you are dining at Pizza Time: they do not accept credit cards, although they do have an ATM on site.

Pizza Time is at 124 Saint George St, St. Augustine, FL 32084.

4. Borillo’s Pizzeria and Beer Garden

If you are exploring the boutiques and antique shops in uptown St. Augustine, Borillo’s Pizzeria and Beer Garden is a great place to stop for lunch.

Located on San Marco Avenue, only minutes north of the Castillo de San Marcos, Borillo’s serves made-to-order New York style pizza by the pie or in enormous slices. Borillo’s has their own parking lot – a rarity in downtown St. Augustine – and is close to the Fountain of Youth Archeological Park and the Old Jail.

Though Pizza is their claim to fame, Borillo’s menu includes hot and cold Italian subs, bountiful salads, calzones, Stromboli, and sausage rolls. Outside, Borillo’s features a Beer & Wine Garden on a pet-friendly deck.

Throughout the week, Borillo’s Beer & Wine Garden offers nightly food and drink specials, including a happy hour Monday – Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring $4 craft beers and $2 draft beers. It is located at 88 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084-3258.
