The Beach Blast Off!

Undoubtedly, the main New Year’s Eve event for the city is the Beach Blast Off! It’s an all-day adventure, with children’s games, rides, a rock climbing wall, face painting, live music, and more. This culminates in a grand fireworks display.

The event is at the St. Augustine Beach Pier. The GPS address is 350 A1A Beach Blvd., St. Augustine, FL 32080. The pier parking lot may be inaccessible due to the activities and events, though a shuttle is expected to bring visitors to the beach area and back for no charge during the event. Shuttle points include the St. Augustine Amphitheater, Ron Parker Park, and the reunion Bank on St. Augustine Beach. If you drive to any of these locations, you can use the shuttle pick-up, which is expected every 15 minutes. It will run to around 11 p.m.

The fireworks are not at midnight. They are expected to launch at 8:30 p.m. on December 31. The activities are from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Beach Blast off will provide you the most things to do, defining any good St. Augustine New Year.

Best Places to Be

What is the best location to see the fireworks in St. Augustine? Ideally, you want to be right at the pier, preferably by using the convenient and free transportation services from the city. But there are other exquisite locations. Many locals will head further south or north of the beach to avoid the intense crowds but still see the glorious celebratory fireworks. There are locations at Vilano Beach, and at least two beach access lots within 10 miles south of the city pier.

For some of the best places to see fireworks, try the beachside restaurants. Both Salt Life and Sunset Grille have gorgeous open patio spaces where you can see all the action unfold.

Reserving your table ahead of time is essential to landing a spot for the festivities. These are accommodating options if you want to avoid the ground-floor crowds and calmly enjoy a cocktail with some friends. Sunset Grille is an iconic beachside locale, featuring televisions, a clear ocean view, and a generous Happy Hour.

Downtown Midnight Fun

St. George Street is St. Augustine’s main downtown road. It is the heart of the historic district, with many restaurants and boutiques on and right off its approximately two miles of cobblestone.

You are unlikely to see the fireworks from downtown. St. Augustine Beach is too far. You can, however, leave the 10 p.m. fireworks and make it to some awesome restaurants for a late-night dinner or some celebratory drinks.

Many restaurants are open late, including the Chianti Room. The back patio is a warm place to hang out for the night and enjoy some St. Augustine-inspired cocktails. Some places only serve drinks, such as bars like Odd Birds.

Downtown is also famous for its Nights of Lights spectacle, which will be on full display for New Year’s. After the fireworks, you can easily stay right in downtown and party the night away.

Come on over to St. Augustine, with its charming cobblestone and stunning light spectacles.
