The Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas National Monument

Two of the oldest fortifications in not only St. Augustine but all of the United States, the Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas are great sites for Pokémon hunting and for learning a bit about St. Augustine’s history. There are a number of Pokéstops, including the National Park Service parking lot and in the parks themselves. The Fort Matanzas nature trail in particular has an abundance of Pokémon.

After your excursion, take in the sights by going on a hike or peruse the exhibits in one of the museums located inside of these ancient buildings.

The Bridge of Lions

This scenic and iconic bridge, which features the proud statues of impressive lions, is wonderful for sight-seeing and catching the electric and steel-type Pokémon Magnemite, as well as a multitude of water-type Pokémon. When you’ve caught all the Pokémon you can handle on the bridge, take a stroll and look out over the refreshingly crisp, glittering waters of Matanzas Bay.

Outside of the Cathedral Basilica

While the church asks that Pokémon Go players respect the sanctity of the Cathedral Basilica by not playing inside, there are plenty of Pokémon to be caught just outside of the beautiful church! Once you’ve finished checking out the cool Poké-stops nearby and have captured your fill of Pokémon, visit this picturesque historic church and learn a little more about the history of the Catholic church in St. Augustine.
